This one day trek is very recommended for mountain lovers who also want a challenge because you will start hiking from a very high point - 4800 masl, it is necessary to be acclimatize for 2 days and keen to get over 5100 masl in only 1 hour.
Itinerary:
You will be pick from 3:30 through 4:00 am.
Our bus leaves at 4:00 am from Cusco city driving for 2 hours to the breakfast place, after breakfast it takes an hour more driving to the beginning of hiking.
Nowadays the road ends very near of the rainbow mountain so you only need 1 hour and a half walking uphill to the highest point from 4800 masl to 5100 masl passing by an andean villages inhabited for local people who are also wearing their traditional clothes made on their own from alpacas, and sheep wool they raised.
By the summit located at 5100 masl (17000 ft) you have a breathtaking view of the "Rainbow mountain" also surrounded by colorful mountains, glaciers like the Ausangate (6372 masl) located a few km away.
Afterwards you have to hike downhill for 1 hour along the same way back to the beginning, after driving an hour to the restaurant for lunch, you still drive 2 hours back to Cusco arriving at 5:30 pm, on the way back you will also pass by 4 lakes (you can see some flamingos, and colorful lakes).
You also can ride a horse round trip for 90 soles (US$28), so also a horseman will be pulling the horse.
